About GY95 Heritage Project

About GY95

GY95 is the leading organization in North East Lincolnshire dedicated to providing a wide range of urban sports facilities for young people. Celebrating our 30th anniversary this year, we've been at the heart of the local urban sports scene since 1995.

Our History

It all started with a group of young BMX enthusiasts sculpting mud jumps on a former rubbish tip. Over the past three decades, we've grown into a registered Charitable Incorporated Organisation, engaging hundreds of young people and developing a concrete skate bowl, BMX racetrack, and various other urban sports facilities across North East Lincolnshire. We even managed to convince the local council to give us mud from the local graveyard in the early days!

Our Mission

GY95 works with and for young people who have a keen interest in all things urban sports. We regularly host social events and jams at our world-famous trails, providing young people with a sense of belonging, an outlet for extreme sports, and a culture to be part of.

Exciting News: National Lottery Heritage Fund Grant

We are thrilled to announce that GY95 has been awarded a £104,970 grant from The National Lottery Heritage Fund! This funding will allow us to engage young people in collating and sharing the heritage and culture of BMX, skate, and urban sports in North East Lincolnshire. The project will involve the urban sports community in developing future plans for GY95 and the wider community.

Our Future

In the long term, this project will enable GY95 to build the skills of young people and new volunteers, strengthen the networking within the Urban Sports scene in North East Lincolnshire, and develop a 5-year business plan. This will ensure that GY95 can continue to expand and develop facilities for young people in urban sports in North East Lincolnshire for many years to come.

"We are thrilled to have received this support from The National Lottery Heritage Fund. Thanks to money raised by National Lottery players we can engage young people in the telling of our story and how we have arrived at this point, 30 years of digging, riding and skating. We are really looking forward to hearing our history from other people’s points of view and capturing the 30 years of Urban Sports development in North East Lincolnshire."
